Pasture Raised Eggs.
At Sage Hill Sanctuary, we’re committed to creating sustainable, regenerative farming systems that provide the healthiest food for our community while nurturing the land. This year, we’re excited to launch a new project: a pasture-raised egg program with hens living in harmony with nature, free to roam and forage on open pastures.
We’ve already taken the first big steps toward this vision. We’ve leased 3 additional acres of farmland and invested in 100 healthy laying hens. Now, we need your help to bring the rest of the project to life and make these delicious, pasture-raised eggs available for our community.
The Vision:
Our approach puts the welfare of the animals and the land first. Our hens will live as close to their natural environment as possible, grazing freely on open pastures, scratching for bugs, and nourishing the soil as they go. This method not only produces superior-quality eggs but also regenerates the land by creating rich, fertile soil.
What We Need:
To make this dream a reality, we need to complete a few critical components:
1. Mobile Chicken Coop: We need to build a movable coop that allows us to rotate the flock across the pasture, ensuring fresh grazing areas and minimizing environmental impact.
2. Egg Production Equipment: Proper egg-washing, grading, and packaging equipment is essential for providing safe, clean, high-quality eggs to our customers.
3. Fencing for Predator Protection: Secure fencing is vital to protect our flock from predators, keeping our hens safe while they roam freely.
4. Expanding the Flock: We’d like to double our flock to 200 hens, increasing egg production to meet demand and further enrich the soil through natural grazing cycles.
How You Can Help:
We’ve made significant progress, but we need additional funding to fully establish this pasture-raised egg program. Every contribution gets us closer to completing this project and delivering fresh, nutrient-dense eggs to our community.
Here’s how your donation will help:
$48: Provides 10 feet of predator-proof fencing.
$98: Contributes to the construction of the mobile chicken coop.
$248: Helps us purchase essential egg production equipment.
$598: Invests in expanding the flock with 100 additional hens.
Why It Matters:
This isn’t just about eggs. It’s about creating a farming system that respects nature, nurtures the land, and provides the highest-quality food for our community. Your support helps us prove that small, sustainable farms can thrive and make a difference.
